Common Indoor Plant Pests in Pakistan

Early pest detection is much easier than treating a large infestation. Inspect new plants, leaf undersides and stem joints regularly. Correct identification matters because fungus gnats in wet mix require different action from mealybugs on leaves.

Fungus gnats

Small dark flies around the pot often breed in consistently damp organic mix. Let the upper layer dry more appropriately, improve airflow and use yellow sticky traps for adults. Severe cases may need a labeled biological or horticultural treatment.

Mealybugs and scale

Mealybugs look like white cotton at nodes; scale insects look like fixed brown or pale bumps. Isolate the plant and wipe small populations with a cotton swab and suitable horticultural soap or alcohol solution, testing one leaf first. Repeat because eggs may survive.

Spider mites and aphids
